Salzburg the city of Mozart
From shopping, art & culture, to the natural region right in the middle of the city of Salzburg
Have you strolled through Salzburg's old town before? Have you already heard the "Jedermann" call during the Salzburg Festival? Have you ever stood on the Mönchsberg and enjoyed the magnificent view over the city? No? Then it's high time that you paid the city of Mozart a visit. The Landgasthof Kirchbichl is a great starting point for this.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by mountains and nature
Did you know that large parts of Salzburg's historical old town are a UNESCO World Heritage Site? When you visit the old town and discover the churches and tucked away squares you get an impression why. Open your eyes and let your gaze wander - there is a great deal to explore. There's a lot going on up at FortressHohensalzburg, which towers over everything. As there is in the Getreidegasse and Residenzplatz too. If you want to stroll away from the tourist trail, visit the tucked away side lanes or relax in a cosy café. If Salzburg's weather is living up to its reputation, it's best to visit the DomQuartier and one of the many museums around the old town.
Art, culture & festivals
It almost seems as if it's always festival time in Salzburg. Besides the world famous Salzburg Festival in the summer, there is the Easter Festival, Whitsun Festival and a Mozart Week. But that's not everything yet. The autumn also has quite a bit to offer with the Salzburg Culture Days and the Salzburg Jazz Autumn. It's quite clear that anyone who loves art and culture will find their purpose in the city of Mozart. Hardly any other city in the world boasts the kinds of first-class concerts, festivals and performances that you can find in the city on the Salzach River. In addition, there is a whole range of concert halls and theatres where great events await you all year round.
A shopping experience in a historical setting
Do you know what Salzburg's most famous photo motif is? You will instantly recognise it the first time you look down the Getreidegasse with its many iron shop signs. The Getreidegasse is the city's most famous shopping street and invites you to stroll, shop and just while away the hours. But don't just limit yourself to this. On the other side of the Salzach, in the Linzergasse, you can find quite a few great shops and boutiques. You often would not guess what cool designer shops can be found behind the historical building façades.
You should not miss these highlights in Salzburg:
