Do you fancy a bit more of an alpine feeling?
The Salzkammergut region is also famous for a whole range of breathtaking via ferratas. In many places the striking limestone rock faces appear to rise directly out of the lakes' waters and offer unimaginable possibilities for via ferrata fans. Many of these via ferratas are more for experts than for beginners - it's important to be well informed beforehand. Here are a few highlights:
- The Drachenwand via ferrata - a wonderful climb for experienced climbers
- Mahdlgupf via ferrata by Attersee lake - a long via ferrata for very fit experts
- Gosau via ferrata - right over the lake with great views over the Dachstein
- Hallstatt Echernwand via ferrata - a highlight for experienced climbers, right over the lake
Right to the top of the glacier
As we were just talking about the Dachstein, you can climb it too. Although the region around the Gosausee and Gosaukamm is not just round the corner to Landgasthof Kirchbichl, a trip to the world of the Dachstein & co. always pays off. Crossing the Gosaukamm is an alpine highlight in itself. Anyone who sets off on a tour over the Hallstätter or Gosau glacier will not stop raving about it. This can even be topped though when a climb to the Dachstein peak is on the agenda. A prerequisite for this is a professional guided tour and knowledge of the Alps.
You see there are plenty of hikes and mountain adventures in the Salzburger Land region. We leave it entirely up to you how sporty and alpine the whole thing should be.
